Norman Kirk has explored a broad spectrum of two and three dimensional mediums in a diverse variety of approaches throughout his career, but is best known for his watercolor paintings.
Mr. Kirk was schooled in the classics at Cleveland Museum of Art and continued his studies at the Los Angeles Center School of Design, UCLA, Chouinards and DePaul University.
His paintings have won countless awards and have hung in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California Museum of Science and Industry, L.A. Municipal Gallery, the Riverside Art Museum, the Downey Art Museum, and the Ventura County Museum of Art.
Kirk's paintings are included in the collections of Jonathan Winters, Maj and Larry Hagman, Doug Kingman, Barry Berkus, the National Park Service, the Los Angeles Public LIbrary, Dept. of Defense, Technicolor, U.S. Air Force Academy, Ventura County Museum of HIstory and Art, Ojai Valley Bank, Petrolane Corp., Rockwell International, Bakersfield College, Pain Therapeutics, Inc. San Francisco, Hertel Contractors, Hammer-Hewson Assoc., and the Saticoy Country Club. He is also included in the municipal collections of the cities of Ventura and Ojai as well as many other private collections.
Mr. Kirk taught watercolor painting at Ventura College since 1982 and often conducts private workshops. In 1984, he was selected to execute a series of watercolors illustrating the Lake Casitas Olympic events for presentation to both local and international officials. His painting of the original winery at the Old Creek Ranch Winery and his current watercolor of the Noble Oaks Vineyard and Winery grace the fine wines fo the Ojai Valley.
Norman Kirk is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society., Watercolor West and the Gold Coast Watercolor Society. He is a published artist and is currently represented in several galleries in California. Mr. Kirk has been the cover artist and program book illustrator for the Ventura County Design House since 1994 and has painted extensively throughout the USA, Europe and Caribbean.
