The elegant Fox Fine Jewelry in historic downtown Ventura will host “Challenging Reality”, an exhibition of new painting by Norman Kirk through January 2008.
This show features two completely different bodies of work that expose both sides of the artist.
Watercolors of rural landscapes and maritime scenes, local and foreign lands, are portrayed in the genre of which Norman is so well known.
Juxtaposed with a contemporary approach are figurative pieces in oils and acrylics. Kirk has explored the female form almost 70 years and handles this subject with expressive style.

Opening Reception: Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, 6-9 p.m.

Show Dates: November 15, 2007 thru January 22, 2008

Kirk's solo exhibit at the Arbinger Archaeological Museum in downtown Ventura is being held over for another month. It is a small, but uniquely different presentation in that the subject matter is primarily Native American and wild life. Two important pieces are etchings and the others are watercolors.
